Sclerotherapy in Dallas, TX

Vanguard Vascular & Vein treats spider veins via sclerotherapy treatment for the residents of Garland, Rowlett, and the Greater Dallas area.

Vanguard Vascular & Vein is one of the only practices in the state that offers sclerotherapy treatments. Sclerotherapy has been used since the 1930s as an alternative to traditional vein stripping; a procedure that often leaves patients with significant discomfort and downtime during the healing process. Sclerotherapy works by destroying small spider veins. The veins are then absorbed by your body, and your blood is re-routed through healthier veins.

What Happens During the Sclerotherapy Procedure?

Sclerotherapy uses small injections of medication to shrink and dissolve fine purple-colored spider veins and small varicose veins. The number and location of injections is determined in your treatment plan. Sclerotherapy may follow varicose vein treatments for optimal results.

If you are not a good candidate for sclerotherapy, your physician may recommend treatment with the advanced VeinGogh™ Ohmic Thermolysis System. During the procedure, the tip of a probe is inserted just under the skin, into the wall of the affected vein and delivers tiny bursts of high-frequency electrical energy. The heat causes the walls of the vein to collapse and close.

What Can I Expect After the Sclerotherapy Procedure?

After your sclerotherapy procedure, you may experience mild itching, swelling, and redness at the treatment site. These symptoms typically disappear within one or two days. You may also have mild bruising for up to two weeks. Most patients are not required to limit their activities after sclerotherapy. Your physician advises you about post-procedure activities during your consultation appointment.
