Dornier Laser Vein Removal in Dallas, TX
Vanguard Vascular & Vein treats varicose veins via Dornier Laser Vein Removal for the residents of Garland, Rowlett, and the Greater Dallas area.
Varicose veins are caused by a condition known as “venous reflux.” Venous reflux is caused by weak valves in the veins of your legs that return blood from your legs back to your heart. When this valve fails to close properly, the blood flows backwards and pools in the lower veins. The pooling and increased pressure in the lower veins cause the walls of the veins to swell and bulge, creating varicose veins. Dornier Laser Vein Removal is a minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to close the damaged vein. Your varicose veins disappear as your body naturally re-routes the blood through healthier veins.
What Happens During the Dornier Laser Vein Removal Procedure?
Your physician evaluates your varicose veins through ultrasound tests and examination of your leg veins. The Dornier Laser Vein Removal is an outpatient procedure that is performed in our office. Each treatment typically takes 30 minutes, and you may need several treatments for best results. For the Dornier Laser Vein Removal procedure, a small incision is made in your saphenous vein. Your physician then inserts a catheter through the incision. A small laser fiber is fed through the catheter, and ultrasound technology is used to position the laser fiber in the damaged vein. Laser energy is applied to the vein as the laser fiber is removed. The energy from the laser causes the vein to close.
What Can I Expect After the Dornier Laser Vein Removal Procedure?
After your Dornier Laser Vein Removal procedure, a small bandage is placed over the incision. You may be required to wear a compression garment over the treatment area to help with your healing process. Walking is strongly encouraged after your Dornier Laser Vein Removal procedure, and you may resume your normal activities after 24 hours. The Dornier Laser Vein Removal procedure permanently removes the varicose veins that you have at the time of the procedure, but you may develop new varicose veins after the procedure.
