Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation in Dallas, TX
Vanguard Vascular & Vein treats varicose veins via Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation for the residents of Garland, Rowlett, and the Greater Dallas area.
Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation using the VNUS Closure™ procedure is a minimally invasive treatment alternative for varicose veins. It is performed by making a small incision in the affected vein and inserting a tiny tube called a catheter. A radiofrequency fiber is passed through the tube which heats the vein wall, causing the vein to shrink and close. After the vein closes, it eventually vanishes, and blood naturally re-routes to healthy veins.
What Happens During the Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation Procedure?
For your Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation procedure, a small incision is made in the treatment area, typically just below the knee. A catheter is inserted into the vein, and radiofrequency energy is applied to the damaged vein. The energy causes the vein to shrink around the catheter. As the catheter is removed, the vein seals closed. Because the sealed vein no longer carries blood, your body naturally re-routes your blood through healthier veins. The sealed vein is eventually absorbed by your body.
What Can I Expect After the Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation Procedure?
Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation is a minimally invasive procedure and recovery is generally much easier than traditional vein stripping. You may experience mild discomfort and bruising. Patients who receive Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation are able to return to their normal activities within one day. We advise our patients that Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation permanently destroys the varicose veins that they have now, but new varicose veins may develop in other areas.
